The AlphaSpark manifesto

Research is cheap. Conviction is not.

AlphaSpark is a (fun) lab building at the crossroads of VC and AI. We explore how technology can help investors think more clearly, make better decisions, and learn from them.

Judgment is the scarce asset.

AI has made research abundant. Anyone can summarize a market in seconds. What matters is deciding what that information means, forming a point of view, and acting on it with discipline.

AI should sharpen the investor, not replace them.

We build tools that challenge assumptions, surface evidence, and make reasoning explicit. The machine does the reading and flags what does not fit. The investor makes the call—and keeps the right to doubt it.

Better decisions need a memory.

A decision is more useful when we can revisit the reasoning behind it. What did we believe? What did we miss? What changed?

We believe tools should help investors learn from those answers, so experience becomes more than a collection of anecdotes.

Built by investors, for fun, in the open.

We are operators and investors building the tools we want to use ourselves. Experiments come first. Some will become products. Some will stay sketches. All of them should make the next decision a little better than the last.

From hypothesis to thesis.
From hype to value.
From one to many.
From reactive to aware.

Our first experiment

Make your investment thesis explicit—and keep it alive.

Our first experiment puts these beliefs into practice. We’re building a tool to help investors articulate their thesis, evaluate opportunities against it, and revisit their reasoning as they learn.

Start with what you believe.

Every good investment starts with a thesis. It tells you where to look, what to ignore, and when to walk away. Most investors carry one in their heads. Few write it down.

We invest in (geo) companies at (stage) in (themes) with (ticket size).

That sentence is a starting point. The next step is making the criteria behind it clear enough to use.

Turn conviction into explicit criteria.

We turn a thesis into a structure you can score, from who you are as an investor down to the terms you accept.

Investor DNA → Focus → Founders → Product → Traction → Terms

Facts stay separate from inference, and every claim points back to its source. The purpose is to make your reasoning visible, testable, and open to challenge.

Give your thesis a memory.

A thesis is not a slide written once for LPs. It should learn from every deck you see, every memo you write, and every deal you miss.

Why am I investing? Why did I invest?

We’re building toward a living thesis that helps you answer both—and understand how your thinking has changed.

Become a better investor.
